The Gold Coast SUNS have unveiled their 2023 Indigenous guernsey, which will be worn during the upcoming Sir Doug Nicholls Rounds. SUNS defender and Indigenous artist Jy Farrar designed the jumpers, with contributions from members of the Gold Coast community. The centerpiece of the design showcases the club surrounded by dedicated members and supporters, with stick shapes symbolising the goal posts at Heritage Bank Stadium. Additionally, the jumpers feature the crocodile, designed by Larrakia man and artist Trent Lee, and the eagle, designed by Yugambeh man and artist Luther Cora. The crocodile represents the Northern Territory and the SUNS players who have a direct connection to its lands and waterways, while the eagle is a totem for some of the traditional custodians of the land and symbolises the Gold Coast. The names of Indigenous SUNS players past and present are also included on the back of the guernseys, as featured on previous editions.
